The Crown, All Saints Lane, Bristol.
The Crown's always been one of my favourite bars in Brizzle, you want Metal, you got it, but I've never eaten here so thought I'd give it a go one Bank Holiday Monday.
Good menu, lots of favourites, all at decent prices. I went for a good old Burger with Monteray Jack Cheese and bacon, also fries and a few onion rings came as standard. The Burger arrived...oh my Gawd, it's huge! Double Burger, thick nicely cooked pattys, lovely crispy fries and proper onion rings.
Quite delicious, and one of the best Burgers I've tasted, especially as it's not advertised as 'gourmet', and one I failed to finish so filling was it!!
Highly recommended.

Bristol Inn, Chapel Hill, Clevedon
It's the big one, time to review my local!!
The Pub is currently running a two meals for £7:99 (usually £9:99) so on paper very good value, but is it good value on the plate though? (see what I did there)
So, for four quid you get cheese burger, chips and a salad. The Burger was pretty much cooked to perfection, a nice thick juicy patty, very tasty.Chips again, nicely cooked and tasty, finally the salad was well presented with lettuce, onion, red pepper and some nice long thin slices of cucumber with a splash of salad dressing.
Excellent meal, well presented and super value for money (slightly cheaper than what it would cost you for a McBigcrap meal!!)

The Mitre, High Street, Oxford.
A new year, a new City visited and time for the first Burger of the year. The Mitre Pub is owned by the Beefeater chain, a nice olde Pub in the heart of Oxford, it looked inviting, and on a cold Winter's day I didn't need much persuading.
I went for the obligatory Cheese and Bacon Burger with fries. The meal arrived about 10 minutes later piping hot and looking not bad at all.Good thick, nicely cooked piece of meat, chunky chips, side salad and mayo and relish dips, all tasted good. The only minus point was the cheese (a slice of Emmental) wasn't melted at all, just plonked on top of the Burger with the Bacon as an after thought.Other than that small criticism, two thumbs up and pretty tasty.

Crab Apple Pub, Southern Way, Clevedon
The 'Crabs' been closed the last 10 days or so for a refit and reopened on the previous Friday so I thought I'd get my skinny ass round there to check out the food.
Owned by the Baras chain it's your usual pub 'favourites' on a glossy menu with some pics in case you weren't too sure what a steak looked like.
I went for the usual Bacon & Cheese Burger, came with some nice chunky chips and a few onion rings. The Burger meat sadly was the stuff you might get from a Costco or Supermarket, nicely cooked it must be said, and two pattys chucked in there, so you really couldn't fault it.Bun was good as was the Bacon on top though the Cheese.....I'm sure it was in there somewhere!
A shade under £6 and perfectly acceptable.

The Old Inn, Clevedon
The Old Inn's been getting some good reviews from the locals so I thought it was time to haul ass there to try one of their Burgers.
£6-75 for a double Burger, Bacon, Cheese and Chips seemed a good choice, and it didn't disappoint.
Nice large, well cooked, and quality, couple of slabs of Cow, Bun wasn't the best at supporting the weight of the Bovine, not really a problem.Nice ample portion of chips, fresh salad (cucumber, tomato, pepper, lettuce) Thumbs up!

We visited the Pub twice over a weekend, firsly to watch the Footy on a Sunday, loads of screens but the sound muted which I thought was fair for an establishment like this, not the type of place you want a load of chavs shouting their heads off.
Called in the following day for some food, I ordered a Burger and Chips, Burger was excellent, good quality Bovine, not the largest portion of chips and it must be said miniscule 'sides', only a tiny bit of lettuce and a two slices of tomato, is it really that cost effective not to chuck a piece of cheese on top for free?
Still, what there was of it was good and the staff were very attentative and polite.

Shadows Bar, Olu Deniz, Turkey
It's Lunch time on a warm sunny Autumn day in Turkey.I fancy a quick bite to eat, a cheese burger and chips and a cold pint, just what the doctor ordered.Well sadly after eating this monstrocity I was worried a doctor might just be called!
The meat was luke warm to say the least, limp, like an ASDA value burger at best, the roll dry, it fell apart after the first bite, as for the cheese, the most anaemic slice I've seen for some time, again, limp, tasteless and wafer thin. The only plus point was the chips were pretty good, mayo and sauces we had to ask for, it's as if they get you sat down that's where the customer service ends, honestly with the amount of nearby competition you'd think these places would up their game for the trade!
The actual bar/pub is a pretty depressing place in the evening too, fancy Blackpool but want 30C heat, this is your place, men dancing on bars topless, Karaoke, England shirts, tattoo's and screeching lowlifes from Essex.
