Seven, Gourmet Burger House, Queens Road, Clevedon

It takes a brave man to open a 'Gourmet Burger' restaurant, off the beaten track (Queens Road) in a small town but that's just what someone did a month ago, and now I've finally got round to giving it a go.

There's two types of Burger on offer, the 'normal' menu, ranging from £1:25 for a basic burger, to £2:95 for a deluxe quarter pounder with Cheese, and the 'Gourmet' menu which start at £4:50 for a burger with just mayo and salad, and no chips, that's an extra quid!

I went for the Blue Cheese Melt, which as the name suggests comes with blue cheese, mayo and salad (mushrooms also but I didn't bother) Te Burger looked and tasted good, good thickness well cooked, with some nice fries, that's where the plaudits end though.The Blue Cheeses was almost non-existent, you could barely taste it, the salad comprised two pieces of tomato and a tiny bit of lettuce, no onions, and for £5:50 this really isn't great value.The restaurant doesn't take cards (this is the 21st Century ffs!), once served you are pretty much ignored, and when we left there was barely a murmur of thanks, dreadful customer service.

Seven-Gourmet Burger House, opens in the 'Don!

A new Burger restaurant/take away has just opened in Queens Road, Clevedon, bottom of the road opposite the Electrical shop.Good luck to anyone opening a business in these tough times, and I feel the place might need it, new restaurants and takeaways are notorious for going under in hard times, and its location isn't that great, "off the beaten track" in a property that's been a Auto Parts store, Indian and Book shop in the past decade!

Best of luck though, and if you live local as least pop in once to see what it's like...

The Bacon Blue Cheese Burger dissected!

Stumbled upon this place on a flying visit to the big smoke one busy Friday night.situated between Regent's Street and Carnaby Street the place looked busy and inviting so we thought we'd give it a go.Right, the negatives first.
The service was slow, sit down...wait....eventually get a waiters attention, order food and drinks......wait.....drinks eventually turn up....wait....you can see your order by the grill.....wait...one of the orders arrives (you have to ask for cutlery) the waiter then takes someone else's order before getting the rest if your meal!!!!! (words were exchanged! )
Yes they were busy but this is the worst service I have received for years, very very poor.

Now the food.I went for my old favourite Blue Cheese and Bacon Burger.It looked good, nice ciabatta roll, lettuce, tomato and red onion salad inside, it tasted sensational, incredibly tasty meat, subtle blue cheese sauce, lovely crispy bacon, I had a side of chips which I pretty much ignored, so good was the burger.
Yes the service was pants, but I'd go back tomorrow so good was the food.
(Probably the BEST burger I can remember tasting for a long long time)

My partner had the Tex Mex Burger (jalapenos, guacamole, bacon) and she was also blown away by the quality!

Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Park Street, Bristol

I last visited this GBK some time ago and was impressed then, so armed with a BOGOF voucher a visit on a nice Sunny Autumn day seemed a good idea.
I went for the Blue Cheese Burger, a medim cooked slice of Bovine with lettuce, relish and a Blue Cheese sauce plus some Rosemary Fries for a side.The Burger was a delight, incredibly tasty, nice crisp lettuce and a Blue Cheese sauce to die for.The Fries were tasty too, though at over £2 a portion a little over priced I thought.

Service was excellent from the staff, attentitive without being over baring.

All in all pretty much faultless.

Tasty, but hardly a belly buster.

Popped in here on our last day for a snack.12 Turkish Lira (about £4) get's you a Burger, Chips and a soft drink.The Bun was probably a bit too big for the Burger, which only came with a slice of lettuce and the dreaded gerkins which were promptly removed.Nice burger, piping hot, chips were chunky and crisp, if rather sparce in portion (see pic), why a slice of ceese couldn't have been thrown on is a bit of a mystery, and who serves Coke without ice, especially when the Sun's beating down!?

 

Tasty but rather 'uninspired'.

Shadows Bar, Olu Deniz, Turkey

It's Lunch time on a warm sunny Autumn day in Turkey.I fancy a quick bite to eat, a cheese burger and chips and a cold pint, just what the doctor ordered.Well sadly after eating this monstrocity I was worried a doctor might just be called!

The meat was luke warm to say the least, limp, like an ASDA value burger at best, the roll dry, it fell apart after the first bite, as for the cheese, the most anaemic slice I've seen for some time, again, limp, tasteless and wafer thin.The only plus point was the chips were pretty good, mayo and sauces we had to ask for, it's as if they get you sat down that's where the customer service ends, honestly with the amount of nearby competition you'd think these places would up their game for the trade!

The actual bar/pub is a pretty depressing place in the evening too, fancy Blackpool but want 30C heat, this is your place, men dancing on bars topless, Karaoke, England shirts, tattoo's and screeching lowlifes from Essex.

The Burger Joint, Cotham Hill, Bristol.

After reading the positive reviews myself and my partner decided to give this place a go one Sunday afternoon.The interior of the restaurant is welcoming, light, uncluttered and clean.The Waitress who delt with us was outstanding, friendly, helpful, quick but unhurried service.
I opted for a Beef Burger with, Blue Cheese, Bacon and Garlic mayo with French Fries- delicious, all served with a cold bottle of Corona and an ice cold GLASS-why do so many establishments fail with this simple idea!

My partner had the Chicken Burger with Cheddar, Bacon, Garlic Mayo and thick cut chips, again excellent.

Highly recommended, and they do takeways too.

(Note: they do quite a few offers on weekdays between 3-5pm)
